Graduation (Friends Forever)© Vitamin C

And so we talked all night about the rest of our lives

Where we're gonna be when we turn 25

I keep thinking times will never change

Keep on thinking things will always be the same

But when we leave this year we won't be coming back

No more hanging out cause we're on a different track

And if you got something that you need to say

You better say it right now cause you don't have another day

Cause we're moving on and we can't slow down

These memories are playing like a film without sound

And I keep thinking of that night in June

I didn't know much of love

But it came too soon

And there was me and you And then we got real cool

Stay at home talking on the telephone with me

We'd get so excited, we'd get so scared

Laughing at our selves thinking life's not fair

And this is how it feels

1 - As we go on

We remember

All the times we

Had together

And as our lives change

Come whatever

We will still be Friends Forever

So if we get the big jobs

And we make the big money

When we look back now

Will our jokes still be funny?

Will we still remember everything we learned in school?

Still be trying to break every single rule

Will little brainy Bobby be the stockbroker man?

Can we ever find a job that won't interfere with a tan?

I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye

Keep on thinking it's a time to fly

And this is how it feels

La, la, la, la… Yeah, yeah, yeah La, la, la, la…

We will still be friends forever
Will we think about tomorrow like we think about now?

Can we survive it out there?

Can we make it somehow?

I guess I thought that this would never end

And suddenly it's like we're women and men

Will the past be a shadow that will follow us 'round?

Will these memories fade when I leave this town

I keep, I keep thinking that it's not goodbye

Keep on thinking it's a time to fly !!!

Kaale Chane vs Soaked Chane

Everyone in India must have had Kaale Chane in last 2-3 days as parshaad served on Ashtmi.

I was going a little busy with my packing stuff...( was never so enthusiastic abt it, but now tht I have got my tickets, gotta do this at the highest priority)).., so happened to have kaale chane today only in my dinner!

Was restraining myself quite high not to blog, till I spend my last days of this year in my home, but just could not stop myself after I found a thought over "Chane" pinging me constantly..

Let me create some background for the Y of "X v/s Y"..

Y stands for "Soaked Chane"..

There is a guy in my cubicle. I guess, he joined my company in july-Aug last year.
Cubicle mates often develop the habit of sharing food items with each other. While I often share some chips, when i tend to stay late..

With chips I remember, my Aunty Uncle from Karnal have recently lauched their snacks product "Max n Richie" in the Northern region..In case you happen to like them, plz help me to convey this msg to them..

Married people in my cubicle are often seen sharing fruits..
A guy from Rajasthan often shares good thoughts..He even offered to gift me "Geeta" a few months back..

There is a girl in my cubicle, Neha, who so often shares her beautiful smile and soft spoken words..
Well, you must be wondering how many people are there in my cubicle.. well 5 + 2(extnded.. cubiclemates also bhai bhai)

Well, the last to mention, this guy Amit..has a habit of sharing Chane..soaked chane to be precise..
And i just cant express how elated i feel from inside, when he offers me the same..

Now after my prologue introducing X and Y is done..let me share the thought that is troubling me..
For almost every task that we want to accomplish, say buying an electronic gadget, a good house, finding your life partner, reading a chapter of a book..there are always two aspects..

The first aspect which maps to Kaale Chane, wants to highlight the time frame in which we define the beginning and end of the task..

The second one which maps to Soaked Chane, talks about the unending depth which we want to unveil before we come up with a "YES" or "NO" from the bottom of our heart..

now let us try to link some of the practical experiences in our daily lives with going through this contrast of X and Y...
It reminds me of all the chemical and mathematical theories we used to study and later used to solve some numerical questions, based on them..

Like when we used to prepare for our pre-engineering, pre-medical entrance tests..we often gave a set amount of hours to each subject..and at the end, I always used to feel that I am the best in the initial chapters of every book..
Like the "Quadratic equations" ..I had even come up with a formula of mine..
The Periodic table in Chemistry.....I knew the whole of it..all the symbols, their atomic number, atomic weight....everything...

In Physics, I was good at nothing..and I am still the same..Wish I get married to a guy who is really good at Physics..and would love to teach me so many of its fundamentals, with lot of patience of course!!!

I have recently bought Sony Vaio laptop for myself...again going through so many available options and finally going for a one in a pre-decided time frame..

I am just so happy to have this electronic gadget in my life..
Thank you, Jiju..for helping me make the right choice..

I feel so good using it or seeing my family members playing games on its 15.4 inch wide screen and when i play some mp3's on it ..

I feel so happy to see so many of my gadgets from Sony: Sony Discman ESP2, Sony audio Player,my Sony Ericsson W700i cell phone and the latest being my Sony Vaio Laptop.

But at the same time, I failed to foresee all the problems i'll have to face considering the fact that Sony products aren't the most popular..
Like my cell phone has other than symbian operating system..Initially, I had problems transferring files from Nokia phones.

My Sony Vaio laptop has got the latest versions of almost all of the softwares..
I typed a word doc. yest in MS word 7.0 and wanted its printout..I was quite unsuccessful in that..even renaming .docx extn to .doc extn did not work..I will have to work more on learning how to ensure backward compatibility for sure..

with the renaming fundaa, i remember a very very weird thing, i have done in my college times..
In my dreams, i imagined that some of my electronics batchmates are in a meeting, sitting around an oval table..and in front of me was a girl..For some reason, i had not liked the girl, so in my dreams, i right clicked on her, selected "delete" option iin the pop up menu...and made her vanish all of a sudden in the meeting..
Al this happened in a dream only..but i can never forget this weird thought of mine..

I dont want to write so long..ao please apply this theorem to arranged v/s love marriages as well..
Yest night, I was watching Fanaa movie and was quite shocked to see the end...
again, in anticipation that my readers will apply the same theorem to this movie, i am attaching two counterpointing scenes of the movie:

Happy Women's Day!!!!!

- Sam Levinson

The beauty of a woman is not in

the clothes she wears, the figure she carries,

or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen from her eyes,

because that is the doorway to her heart,

the place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman

is not in a facial mole,

but true beauty in a woman

is reflected in her soul.

It is the caring that she lovingly gives,

the passion she shows,

the beauty of a woman

with passing years—only grows.

Maa! please open the door

Last weekend, I accompanied my family to visit our paternal ancestral place in Haryana for some religious ceremonies.
I was gazing outside the window of my car, trying to catch all the lovely moments running outside the multi-dimensions of this window.
Can't help remembering the poem "Daffodils", the one we used to enjoy reading in our Gulmohar English book in our school days..

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
--
William Wordsworth

We came across a countryside, where I saw a boy aged ard 5 yrs, weeping loudly..
Knocking loudly on the entrance gate of his home..
And was continuously shouting..
Mummy !! Mummy!!!
Mummy pleassssssse open the door~~~~
Pleaseeeeeeee Maa.........
Pleasssssssse

Though this moment flashed across my eyes just for a second or 2..
but somewhere had a deep impact on my heart!

I just turned my face towards my mother..
only to re-inforce my belief that mother is surely an angel sent by God, to make us believe that we have been brought on earth by her to do something big..and we must pass on this magnanimous thought to all our generations.

I was quite elated after reaching our destination,
a place that maps us back to our roots, established somewhere in the year 1554, when some of my Grand Grand.. Parents, sacrificed their lives in the war..
A place that helps me descent to my self.
A place where I am known by our surname, Dewan , that makes me Pooja Dewan..
I just find it too royal..
I am so proud of my roots!

In-between the ceremonies, each one of us was asked to give a promise to try our best to give back to our soil, to the mother earth and to our great great great ...Grandmothers who have always loved and cared for us from the cores of their loveliest Hearts!

My mother and maasiji have been married in the same khaandaan..
I got a chance to meet their family as well..
And I was too happy to have so many discussions with my cousin brother, during our return journey..

I was baselessly expressing my anger over the reservation issue and cursing people here and there.., that time my cousin asked me one question and I had no answer:

He told me since so many centuries , are not the upper middle class enjoying all the benefits..
Isn't it our duty to pay back to the less priviliged class..
We can claim to stop reservation only when we take the responsibilty to teach them + morally and financially support their education.

My cousin has surely entered my admirers' list..
He has got the finest of brains, but he has dedicated his life to serving children..
He along with my Bhabhi are running their own creche and coaching academy..
And in a short span, I can see his so many fans in the city..
His own kids are a race ahead as well.
His eldest son has recently secured 4th rank in the Northern region Aryabhatta Entrance test..

I happened to meet some of his students as well..
While some of them wanted to be like the star icon of their city ""Kalpana Chawla"",
others wanted to be models..some wanted to be scientists..some were too busy preparing for FIITJEE entrance tests....

His aim of helping the weaker sections of society is also coming up so well..
He plans to open some classroom sessions for poor kids in many cities in collaboration with the existing schools or may be his own school sometime..
He was asking for ways to get some sort of financial support from foundations like Infosys, but I had no pointers in my mind..
Anybody having any pointers, please let me know..

May be we also become a part of a revolution led by him!

I came across many famous wordings in his creche.Want to share some of them:

1. 30 years from now, it won't matter what shoes you wore,
how your hair looked or the jeans you bought.
What will matter is what you learnt and how you used it!!

2. I work hard, I don't work miracles!

3. Success is a journey, not a destination.

4. People may doubt, what you say
But they will always believe, what you do.

5. There's never a wrong time to do the right thing.

6. Don't shout, speak softly!

7. yada yada hi dharmasya
glanir bhavati bharata
abhyutthanam adharmasya
tadatmanam srjamy aham

"Whenever there is decay of righteousness O! Bharatha
And a rise of unrighteousness
then I manifest Myself!" - Lord Vishnu

The folk songs sung on my ancestral place last Sunday, keep on running in my mind!

Meri Daadi ke Paayal Baaje.....
Tann Mann Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom..

Meri Daadi ke Paayal Baaje.....
Tann Mann Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom....

I feel like crying..

I feel like crying..

My mind is all perplexed....

I wanna visit Europe..

I wanna grow.

But i really don't feel like going away from my family for an year!

At times I hate to go..

But as much as I love to go...

I feel like walking on cloud nine.....

I wanna grasp the opportunity knocking on my door~~

I just don't know what is it that I really want to know :-))

Quoting the lyrics of a famous song, here I go:

Chantal Kreviazuk's Leaving on A Jet Plane:

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go
I'm standin' here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin', it's early morn
The taxi's waitin', he's blowin' his horn
Already I'm so lonesome I could die

So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go

'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go
There's so many times I've let you down
So many times I've played around
I'll tell you now, they don't mean a thing
Every place I go, I think of you
Every song I sing, I sing for you
When I come back I'll wear your wedding ring
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go
Now the time has come to leave you
One more time, oh, let me kiss you
And close your eyes and I'll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times that I won't have to say ...
Oh, kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you'll wait for me
Hold me like you'll never let me go
'Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to goAnd I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

But yes, I am now sure..........
That I really want to go....
And when I am back....
I wanna be in my mother's lap again...
And all set to blossom in a relationship so rich and pure..

Best goodbyes are those that are never said!!

I wanna live a dream..

I wanna live a dream..
I wanna shed away my inhibitions..

I wanna dream Big and Beautiful..
I wanna enlighten the baby crying,
who's dwelling in the slum
close to every shrine!

I wanna tell him,
"Open up your eyes.
The future is all yours."

"If today you can't see,
any beam of light coming to your delight,
let not your soul be scared.
Always remember, every cloud has a silver lining."

I wanna see the serene sky,
where departed souls get salvation and just don't merely die!

I wanna see a sparkle shimmering in every female's eye..
I wanna each one of her to be an apostle of luv, faith & compassion,
with confidence and optimisim getting reflected in her day to day life.

Even if she just talks with her eyes,
Nobody dares to deter the budding vision running in her mind.

I wanna breathe in the oxy rich air,
flowing slickly deep down my corpuscles!

I wanna the child in me
to always remain active & alive,

for I too believe,

we don't stop playing, because we grow old ~
but we grow old, because we stop playing^^

so that tomorrow,
when I see my own reflection in my child!

I don't have to struggle too hard,
for my own incarnation to find a friend
in his mother, to whom he is so intimately tied !!

I wanna see a nation,
truly democratic
where gr8 thoughts flow free and wide...

where everyone gets a chance
to fearlessly imagine and nurture his aptitude

and to throw away far behind
the pretentious mask, which he often wears
to infuriate the souls,
who could have loved him so much otherwise..

Since I want to dream so big and bright..
let not my thoughts be blemished by all the venoms spreading world-wide.

for my dreams will just not remain mere dreams..
If I show signs of truth, wisdom, sincerity and high character in every act of mine!

Top Ten Benefits of Engineering Career

I was going through Chronicle magazine of "NARAYANA" group of educational institutes, there I came across an interesting article.

Here it goes:

Engineering offers a rewarding and lucrative career-one in which you can use your mind to find creative solutions to the challenges facing our society. It's a well-paid profession, at par with any other profession.

1. Job Satisfaction ... Studies show that, the No. 1 cause of unhappiness among people is job dissatisfaction. Thus, it is important to find a career that provides you with enjoyment and satisfaction. After all, you might spend 40 or 50 years working eight hours or more a day, five days a week, 50 weeks a year.Do you want to dislike every minute of that time, or would you rather do something that you enjoy? For numerous reasons, some of which are listed below, engineering provides a satisfying field of work.

2. Variety of Career Opportunities ... What do Neil Armstrong, Jimmy Carter and Alfred Hitchcock have in common? Though they eventually chose very different careers - one as an astronaut, one as a politician and one as a film maker - they all started with an engineering education.

An engineering degree offers a wide range of career possibilities.Within the practice of engineering, there is an enormous variety of job functions.

  • If you are imaginataive and creative, design engineering may be for you.
  • If you like laboratories and conducting experiments, you might consider test engineering.
  • If you like to organize and expedite projects, look into being a development engineer.
  • If you are persuasive and like working with people, consider a career in sales or field service engineering.

The analytical skills and technological expertise you develop as an engineering student can also be put to use in many other fields. The majority of today's college graduates will have more than one career during their work life, and engineering can provide a strong foundation for almost any of them.

3. Challenging Work ... In the engineering world, there is no shortage of challenging problems. Any engineering manager will tell you that he or she has a huge backlog of problems that need to be solved.Generally, "real world" engineering problems are quite different from most of the problems you wil find in school. In school, most problems have a single, correct answer. When you get into the engineering world, virtually all problems will be open-ended. There will be no single answer, no answer in the back of the book, no professor to tell you that you are right or wrong. You will be required to devise a solution and persuade others that your solution is the best one.

4. Intellectual Development ... An engineering education will "exercise " your brain, developing your ability to think logically and to solve problems. These are skills that will be valuable throughout your life - and not only when they are solving engineering problems. For example, your problem-solving skills can help you undertake such taks such as planning a vacation, finding a job, organizing a fund-raiser, purchasing a house or writing a book.

5. Potential to Benefit Society ... Depending upon your value system, you may not view all things that enginees do as benefitting people. For example, engineers design military equipment like missiles, tanks, bombs, artillery anf fighter airplanes. Engineers are also involved in the production of pesticides, cigarattes, liquor, fluorocarbons and asbestos.

As an engineer, however, you can choose to work on projects that clearly benefit society, such as cleaning up the environment, developing prosthetic aids for disabled persons, developing clean and efficient transportation systems, finding new sources of energy, alleviating the world's hunger problem and increasing the standard of living in underdeveloped countries.

6. Financial Security ... While financial security should not be your only reason for choosing a career in engineering, if you decide to become an engineer you will be well paid. Engineering graduates receive the highest starting salary in any discipline.

7. Prestige ... Engineers play a primary role in sustaining our nation's international competitiveness, maintaining our standard of living, ensuring a strong national security and protecting public safety. Furthermore, most people know that engineering requires hard work and strong technical skills. As a member of such a respected profession, you will receive a high amount of prestige.

8. Professional Environment ... As an engineer, you will work in a professional environment in which you will be treated with respect and have a certain amount of freedom in choosing your work. You will also be in a position to influence what happens at your company.

You will have the opportunity to learn and grow through both on-the-job training and formal training. Often, your immediate supervisor will closely mentor you and help you tackle progressively more challenging tasks. You will earn from experienced engineers in your organization and will be offered seminars and short courses to increase your knowledge. Most likely, your employer will have an educational reimbursement program that will pay for you to take classes towards a graduate degree or for professional development.

9. Technological and Scientific Discovery ... Do you know why golf balls have dimples on them? Do you understand how the loads are transmitted to the supports on a suspension bridge? Do you know what is a laser or how a computer works? When you drive on a mountain road, do you look at the guard rails and understand why they are designed the way they are? Do you know why split-level houses experience more damage in earthquakes? An engineering education can help you understand how these, and many other things in the world, work.

Furthermore, an understanding of technology wil provide you with a better understanding of many issues facing our society. For example: Why don't we have zero-emission electric vehicles rather than highly polluting cars powered by internal combustion engines? Should we have stopped building nuclear reactors? What will we use for energy when oil runs out? Is it technically feasible to develop a "Star Wars" defense system that wil protect us against nuclear attack? Can we produce enough food to eliminate world hunger? Do high-voltage power lines cause cancer in people who live or play near them? Like that.

10. Creative Thinking ... Engineering is by its very nature a creative profession. When practicing engineers develop solutions to open-ended, real-world problems, they must employ conscious and subconscious mental processing as well as divergent and convergent thinking.

Because we are in a time of rapid social and technological changes, the need for engineers to think creatively is greater now than ever before. Only through creativity can we cope with and adapt to these changes. If you like to question, explore, invent, discove and create, then engineering could be the ideal profession for you.
